Tax Audit Success

By Brian Gordon

Brian Gordon recently represented a client who filed amended returns claiming a Qualified Emerging Technology Company (QETC) Credit and asking for a refund of approximately $200,000. After debating the issues involved to qualify for the credit, NYS agreed to pay the refund in full.

The QETC Credit is for companies that are qualified emerging technology companies as that term is defined in the Public Authorities Law (PAL). They must engage in qualifying activities, such as increasing employment, purchasing assets, spending for research and development, or providing training to their employees; or for investing in QETCs.

For more information on the QETC Credit or any other state and local tax audit or issue, please contact Brian Gordon, CPA at 516-938-5219. Also see the contact information on this newsletter.
